This article explains how an Adopt End User (AEU) can create additional values for segmentation by utilizing poll responses. In the event a value is unavailable under the “Visitor Data” section of the rules dropdown when creating a segment, an AEU can create a poll to collect information from their users and segment based on those responses.
Create A Guide
Select Guides > Create Guide > Lightbox: Start From Scratch> Manage In App > Launch Visual Design Studio.
Select Click To Add Content

Select A Poll
In the Polls section of Building Blocks, select a poll based on the information you'd like to collect. Pendo recommends the Multi Choice poll because it gives you the ability to configure the options in the dropdown menu.
Tip: In order to entice your users to respond to the poll, set the Close Button to OFF. This will make it so employees cannot exit the poll until they've responded. Also, add information to the poll that highlights to your users the importance of responding to the poll. For example, if you're looking to collect information on employees location in order to provide them with specific training, consider adding the following to your poll: "Responding to this poll allows us to provide you with training specific to your region."
Segment By Poll Response
Poll responses are now available in your segmentation settings. Click Segments > New Custom Segment. Poll Responses will appear as an option in the first drop down menu. You can now create segments based on the responses you've collected and target these users with specific guides.
Note: The "visitor data" values in segment rules are determined by the Partner. If there's something you'd like to see, ask your Partner contact if it's an available value that can be passed as visitor metadata instead of capturing this data with polls.
