Guide edit history helps you track and understand changes made to your guides by your team. It records who modified the guides and when. In addition, by logging all content changes, you can maintain records of the updates, ensuring transparency and accuracy of information. This feature ensures you can quickly identify and address any changes with your users.
The edit history:
- Surfaces step-level visual differences across edit sessions
- Surfaces guide-level and step-level non-visual changes
- Recreates the guide with the before and after looks based on the changes made throughout the guide history
Access Guide Edit History
- In the left-side menu, go to Guides.
- Select a guide from the guide’s list in the Settings tab.
- In the guide's details page, select the ellipses (...) in the top-right corner and then select "View edit history" from the dropdown menu. The Guide history page opens.
View Guide Revisions
The Edit history page shows the high-level changes made to the guide, and any changes made to individual steps in the guide. To view guide revisions, select one of the guide revisions in the Revisions list. A comparison is shown between your selected version and the direct predecessor of that version.
You can filter the guide revisions:
- In the Updated by field, select the name of a user or multiple users from the dropdown list.
- In the Select date field, select a date you want to see revisions for from the dropdown list.
- Use the search field to search for names.
In the Revisions list, the guide revisions are grouped by date, with the most recent at the top and the oldest revision at the bottom. You can see which user made the changes and when, and the status of the guide when the change was made.
Select the arrow in the right-hand side of the guide details section to expand it to see the revision details for the selected guide and the previous version.
View Step Revisions
If changes were made to any steps in the guide, you can see what those changes were under the relevant step. Only steps where changes were made are shown here. In the upper section, you can see the visual changes to the step. In the lower section, you can see more detailed changes made to the step.
